Do you ever have those moments you think you’ve hit the jackpot, thought of the best idea ever, and you’re the world’s next inventor? Yeah, that’s me sometimes. I love coming up with solutions to problems… after all, that’s what inventions are.
Well, one day while sitting in our digital lair with our other digital team members (what we like to call ‘digi-masters’ or ‘digamons’), a light went off in my head. “Guys, what if you could upload an image to the web and it could find you all the locations where that one specific image lives?” I excitingly verbalized to the group.
“That tool already exists. It’s called Google Search by Image,” said one of our wise developers. At that moment, I was sad Google beat me to it (Seems to always be the case. Dang it.) but I was also excited to dig into this amazing tool and start benefiting from its features.
All you need to do is head to images.google.com and start to enjoy searching by images in four different, easy ways.
Drag & Drop
Copy & Paste the URL for an Image
Copy Right-click an Image on the Web
Once you’ve downloaded the extension, to use it, right click on an image on the web and select “Search Google with this image.”
When you search by image, you’ll see results of where that specific image, or relative images, lives within the web.
After you search, browse the webpages that contain that image, or you can find the same image in different sizes or resolutions.
Thank you, Google, for once again making our lives easier.
(Although, I wish I had beat them to it.)
Through finding this tool, I reiterated to myself that talking with my coworker about ideas creates a learning opportunity for others and myself. I encourage you all to ask questions and throw out ideas to be the most successful at what you do – after all, that’s how these blogs come about most of the time!
