PF Peeps: Acquaint Yourself With Lisa

By Pathfind, September 10, 2018 // Inside PF

[About a 6 MIN read]

Lisa makes life in the Pathfinders’ Building one of beauty and joy each day.  She is capable of both running the front end of any event as well as being the one that makes great things happen without ever taking credit for all the good that is going down.  With Lisa’s involvement each day, there is no mistaking who brings the calmness to the chaos of creativity.  We trust her instincts and collectively know that we will be able to count on her to keep the momentum going without worrying about yet unexpressed needs. We are so happy to have her on the Pathfinder Team and appreciate all her talents. Never without a smile or a kind word, we consider ourselves lucky to start and end our workdays together.

Lisa’s Motto Kindness is never wasted. It always makes a difference.

At Work

What is your idea of perfect happiness in the workplace? Working within an environment that is full of great energy, surrounded by people that have a commitment to only turning out great ideas and work for our clients!  For me, being able to be a contributor and supporting those around me gives me great pride and happiness.

What is the trait you most admire in your co- workers? Their strong work ethic plus their desire to get it right every time. I love how they partner and work as a team with clients and coworkers.

Favorite quote? One of my favorite quotes is from Mark Twain, “Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”

What brought you to Pathfinders? My background in the “Advertising World “began over 30 years ago when Pathfinders was a client of ours! Our family has owned and operated a commercial photography studio for many years. I met my husband when he was behind the camera and I was in front of it! I have had the privilege of working with many businesses and clients in our immediate area and across the country.  I have spent most of my working hours on sets, styling and propping. Behind the scenes I wear many hats –  you might find me scheduling models, searching for locations and seeing that our clients and staff have all they need to have a successful day on the set. Advertising is forever changing and that is in part what makes each day so very interesting!

What are your work methods?

  1. Check and double check.
  2. Ask questions.
  3. Be flexible.
  4. Stay organized.
  5. Never ever be without post it notes!

At Play

What is your favorite food? I would have to say “healthy eating” is my favorite food. If it falls in that category, I’m loving it! Although, if I were to choose one cheat food it would have to be cheese puffs and a piece of my mom’s cherry pie! Seriously, my mom makes the BEST cherry pie. We grew up with down home farm cooking when I was young!

What are your favorite animals? I guess I need to say dogs! I saw this quote and it speaks to my relationship with my own dogs; “You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, ‘Wow, you’re right! I never would’ve thought of that!’ (Dave Barry) For me, my dogs can make the busy craziness of life just disappear for a moment!

What is your favorite after work activity? Without a doubt I enjoy time at the gym.  Gym time started for me as a form of respite, merely time needed to disconnect. Now I’m passionate about physical fitness and enjoy pretty much any activity that evolves around being active. What people probably don’t know is I enjoy “lifting,” i.e.: lifting weights – the heavy the better.  I enjoy pushing myself and being pushed to progress. I am also very lucky to have two sons to share this love with! My youngest son who lives the closest to me is also very active and one of his favorite pastimes is body building. My found joy in lifting weights evolved out of his love for lifting. For me it’s an added bonus that this is time we can share together in an activity that we both take pleasure in doing. If Tanner is in town, you will definitely find us in the gym together. Who knows, someday we may step up on stage together in a couple /coed bodybuilding competition as a mother and son team!

What is your favorite weather? I love a sunny day, but there are times that there is nothing better than a stormy, lighting and thunder filled day! This is when I am snuggled in on the couch with a good book and my dogs nestled in with me, one under my arm and the other curled up on my lap.

Where would you like to take your Pathfinder travel mug? You could find me and my PF travel mug anywhere from enjoying ski lift in the Colorado mountains (preferably Snowmass) to gazing at a sunset in the Bahamas, floating down the Little Pigeon River in Townsend, Tennessee, lounging in an inner tube on a warm sunny day, or simply having a relaxing evening in my own backyard with my family – and of course my dogs!

Things you may not know

Family life? I have an awesome family that is made up by my loving and supporting husband of many years, Scott. We are blessed to have three remarkable children who are kind, loving and successful each in their own unique ways!

Any upcoming events? Our family will soon grow larger with the marriage of my oldest son to an exceptional young woman! How lucky we are! My cup runneth over.

Any special hobbies in your family? We are a fishing family! For the past 70 years my grandparents and our extended family made up of my parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, our children, my husband and me have been going to the same fishing cabins in northern Wisconsin. The tradition has lived on through 5 generations! It’s a time where we all reconnect with each other and set our busy lives aside to enjoy the time with the people we love most. We spend our days fishing together, laughing, and telling fish tales of the one that got away.

Special activities or memories? In the evenings you can find us frying up our catch from the day and playing cards, but not just ANY card game. The only card game that the Overmyer group can be found playing is the legendary game of “ROOK!” I am truly lucky and blessed to have such wonderful traditions to share and pass down to my children.

Unique features of your home life? In our household, my children grew up using sign language to communicate with their sister Haley, our oldest child. She was born deaf with multiple challenges.  She taught us about compassion, empathy and every facet of the term “unconditional love.”   Haley has shown us through her bubbly personality her zest for living and the wonderment she finds in each day.  She is proof that no matter a person’s challenges, we all can live meaningful, fulfilling and productive lives.
