Jake’s calm and confident demeanor is the perfect fit for doing the programming and troubleshooting of the proverbial back end of our website design team.  Whether it is creating the framework or reworking what was already there, Jake makes sure it all works together and produces clear and understandable websites for even the most casual user.

He is often here during off hours so that he has time to quietly try things out – and is even first to volunteer to cook at monthly Pathfinder cookouts.  There is never a need to ask Jake for help.  If it ever looks something is needed – he steps in without fanfare and gets it done.

At Work

What requires the most professional growth at Pathfinders?

Our clients’ unique needs.  Each website and programming needs are different and I enjoy the challenge of making it all fit together.

What have you learned from working with a client?

Problems are often universal.  Solutions are often unique.

Most fun project with the Pathfinders team?

It was Tymphany’s unique integration between their private and public websites and the sites needed to speak to each other from both sides of the world – the eastern and western hemispheres.  http://www.tymphany.com

Future of Marketing?

Because everyone has access to so many communication possibilities, hyper-specific targeting will be the wave of the future.

Future of devices and design?

Automation through wearables and smart homes and a rebound from overtly simple layouts to complex but clean.

At Play

What is your favorite movie?

Donnie Darko because . . . It’s the story of a sleepwalking, messianic, schizophrenic teenager in the 80’s exploring time travel and predestination, accompanied by a 6-foot bunny named Frank. What’s not to like?

What is your favorite super hero?

Batman is my guy because . . . He doesn’t have any superpowers, he’s just exceptionally smart. He spends all his time and riches to help people.

What is your favorite animal?

Well, I love dogs and have one named Tank.  He is about 140 pounds and doesn’t always realize just how big he is. Perhaps you know what I mean by explaining that he is always in the way and inadvertently knocking thanks over. He, like myself, is kind of a clutz.

What is your favorite book?

My favorite book is Call of the Wild by Jack London.  I just like the juxtoposition of Buck evolving as an alpha dog while devolving to a wolf. I like to imagine Tank and I on a similar sledding adventure.  He would probably like a team of dogs that he could hang out with and I prefer cold weather.

What is your favorite after work activity?

Cooking!  I like to cook, but often go overboard and make too much. So – lots of leftovers for lunch!

You may not know…

Which historical figure do you most identify with?

The author and naturalist Henry David Thoreau.  One quote of his that fits my life well is . . .  “The question is not what you look at, but what you see.”

Unusual talents?

I can crush an apple with my hands.

Secret talents?

I’m pretty good with a yo-yo.

Any special awards?

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Central Michigan University with a BAA in Graphic Design and a Minor in Advertising.

Anything you would like to clear up?

I am not related to Steve Wozniak.

What is your motto?

Tomorrow will worry about itself.
