On the River is South Bend’s biggest beach party of the year – but it’s not just a way to soak up sun, socialize, and show off your beach volleyball skills.
This event may not have the internet buzzing as loudly as Miley Cyrus yet (let’s face it, while she’s twerking, these guys were working) – but if her recent VMA Award acceptance by a young, homeless proxy is any indication, it appears she and a volunteer group of young people in our community, including two of our Pathfinders, have something noble and notable in common: Making strides to break the cycle of homelessness.
Giving back to the community in which we live is something Pathfinders’ take great pride in. Throughout the summer Garrett Gingerich (Director of eMedia) and Ryan Bonnell (Assistant Account Executive) assisted with planning, setup, and promotion of On the River, an annual beach party that culminated in August and served as a fun and successful tool supporting the mission of the Center for the Homeless in Downtown South Bend. This year, the event, which hosts concerts, volleyball tourneys, a teen battle of the bands, and food vendors aplenty, brought in $95K – which can go a long way toward changing the landscape of our community.
Thank you, Garrett and Ryan, for supporting a great cause in our community! Enjoy some photos from other Pathfinders who showed their support by attending the event.
