PF Peeps is our special way of spotlighting individual Pathfinder personalities at work and play, an avenue to discover things about our peeps. Every Pathfinder has a unique personality – and we believe they warrant sharing!

Hannah Turner got her first taste of being a Pathfinder for our Holiday Photo Shoot in 2014. She was surprised when we rolled out a 100 yard long red scarf and started wrapping ourselves up in it! Then Hannah helped prepare holiday scarves for the community, but not before engaging in a giant scarf tug-of-war! Little did we know that her inner fire was such a part of her pre-Pathfinder life as well! From her goal setting to her zest for accomplishments – her life’s joys enrich ours!

    At Work

What is special about working in an Advertising and Marketing agency in Mishawaka, Indiana?

Living and working in a more rural area offers a great “small town values” feeling.  We are all closely tied to our community and our industry because of it.

What is the trait you most admire in your co-workers?

I so admire the passion at Pathfinders.  Everyone is excited about the creativity and energy that our work brings us.

    Favorite office visitor?

My son, Benjamin! His middle name, Harrison, is my Mom’s maiden name – and as it turns out – Benjamin Harrison was a former President and Senator who lived in Indiana! Benjamin loves to visit the office – especially if Emily Jensen is here (she’s his favorite “lady”).  Here is a photo of the two of them using Andrew’s desk as a secret hideout.

What quality do you like best in your clients?

They come to us with trust.  They know we are the ones to get their job done – and we try to exceed their expectations.

What do you like best about your occupation?

Every client has a different problem so the opportunity to come up with a creative solution every time is so fun to me!  The different industries, everything we get to learn about – it adds variety and freshness to our work.

    At Play

    Favorite author?

I think Ayn Rand is brilliant- author of Atlas Shrugged, The Fountainhead, The Anthem, and We the Living.  Her stories always feature strong female characters and a very inspiring and heroic theme. I re-read her books all the time.

    Any talents?

I play the piano and organ.  I played the organ for my church growing up for about 5 years. We have a piano at home and I teach Benjamin, my 4 year old son, how to play!

    What is your favorite movie?

It is “You’ve got Mail” – Nora Ephron movies get me every time.

    What is your favorite weather?

Rain – I lived in Portland, Oregon for about a year and fell in love with the rain.

    You May Not Know…

    Professional background?

My first real profession was as a wild land firefighter and emergency medical technician.  While I did love the fire life, my goal was to graduate from college.  After doing fire for one season, I was then able to pay for my first year in Interior Design and Architecture at Brigham Young University in Idaho.  And, fun fact – there are three Brigham Young locations – Utah, Hawaii and Idaho. Yes, Hawaii was my first choice!

Which living person do you most admire?

My father has been a great role model for me because he has always known the kind of life he wanted and has achieved his goals. As a first grader, he wrote down these simple life goals in class:  1) Live in a log cabin; 2) Become a forester; and 3) Have a family.  Happily, he fulfilled all of these dreams and has been a great example of the importance of setting goals to fulfill your dreams.  Today he is a forester and fire behavior analyst. We have actually fought fires together.

    What is your favorite color?

    Green

    Upcoming events?

I will be getting married on October 17, 2016! My fiancé is a firefighter for the City of Mishawaka.  Even though we knew each other from High School (his mother was my lunch lady and I love her!), we reconnected on Tinder (which is a dating app, and is mildly embarrassing).

    Favorite workouts?

I love weightlifting.  I grew up in dance, running, and cheerleading but the idea of lifting weights and setting goals that I can achieve while consistently striving for more is really motivating to me – I love it!
